Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 16, 2026
Ekklesia ("we", "us") helps Catholics discover and gather at events. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. We collect as little as we can and never sell your data.
Information you give us
- Account: your email address (used to sign you in).
- Profile: your display name, and optionally a short bio, your city, and a
profile photo.
- Content: events you create, RSVPs, follows, direct messages, and
organizer updates you send.
Information collected automatically
- Approximate location: if you allow it, your device's location is used to
show events and parishes near you. It is used at the time of the request and is not stored as a location history.
- Push token: if you turn on notifications, we store a device push token so
we can deliver them. You can revoke this in your device settings.
- Basic technical data needed to operate the service (e.g. timestamps).
How we use information
- To run the core features: your feed, discovery, RSVPs, messaging, and
notifications.
- To keep the community safe and enforce our Terms.
- To contact you about your account or events you are part of.
We do not use your data for advertising and we do not sell it.
Who we share it with
We use trusted service providers who process data only on our instructions:
- Supabase — database, authentication, and file storage.
- Resend — sending account and notification emails.
- Expo — delivering push notifications.
We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the safety of our users.
Your choices and rights
- Access and export: request a copy of your data in the app
(Settings → Download my data).
- Correction: edit your profile at any time.
- Deletion: request account deletion in the app (Settings → Delete
account). Your account enters a 30-day grace period, after which it and its associated data are permanently deleted. Sign back in within the window to cancel.
- Notifications and location: control these in your device settings.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as PIPEDA or the GDPR. Contact us to exercise them.
Data retention
We keep your data while your account is active. When you delete your account, it is purged after the 30-day grace period. Backups are cycled out on a rolling basis.
Children
Ekklesia is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will remove it.
Changes
We may update this policy. Material changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date and, where appropriate, an in-app notice.
